I’m actually really fucking happy about the Hydra Trash Party existing. Because this is a character whose entire fucking story is about loss of personal agency - he’s been tortured in who fucking knows how many horrible, terrible ways. That’s canon. His life - if you can call it living - has been shit.

Exploring uncomfortable concepts is the purview of art, and erotica is as legitimate of a venue as any other. And the Trash Party is fucking honest about it - here there be monsters. It’s part of the rules not to romanticise noncon. I love that.

That is why this is an oddly happy place for me despite the fact that it’s intensely triggering. (Really. The first HTP fic I read gave me an anxiety attack and it was a fucking excellent piece of writing. It couldn’t have dragged out that level of emotional response in me if it wasn’t.

It was actually kind of cathartic.)

Do you have any fucking idea how many fanfics in every single fucking fandom ever romanticise rape? They call it love and then by the end they’re ~happy~ and everything is okay now because magical genitalia made love happen and that shit is 10000% more disgusting than erotica that says right out the gate, “This is fucked up, this is wrong, and bad things are happening. Nothing is okay.”

And it just makes me so fucking angry that people would dare to tell someone not to create art because they find the subject matter to be objectionable. Silencing things that explore the objectionable is a good way to render it invisible, and thus allow it to gain traction. If you aren’t willing to look at it and examine it personally, that’s fine, but stop shitting on other people for doing so.
